Caribbean Passage
After departing Paramaribo, we sailed down the Suriname River towards the open sea, with a pilot on board. This time in daylight, allowing us to take in the lush riverbanks and the life unfolding along the shores. The pilot proved to be not only a skilled navigator, but also an engaging storyteller, sharing insights about the region as we went.
Once at sea, we set sail and headed north at a steady pace, making around 8 knots on average. Within two days, we passed between Trinidad and Tobago at sunset, a striking moment, with the sky glowing in shades of gold and fire.
Since then, we have been sailing in the Caribbean Sea. And it’s every bit as good as it sounds. Our first stop was Grenada, where the guest crew explored the island while the permanent crew caught up on maintenance on board. In between, there is always time to enjoy what makes this region so special, warm evenings, wide horizons, and the occasional refreshing swim.
We are now on our way to Saint Lucia, where we expect to arrive on the morning of the 31st. A new chapter of the voyage awaits.
