Underway

The weather during our stay on Tenerife was beautiful: little wind, plenty of sunshine — ideal conditions to tackle a few remaining jobs on the ship. Because even though the ‘Oosterschelde’ recently completed a major maintenance period in Rotterdam, there is always something to do on board.

But now we are underway again. The wind has returned, exactly as forecast: a small front, some rain, and then a lovely northeasterly breeze, force 4–5. With that, we are making a direct course for Cape Verde. The rain has passed, the sun is breaking through, and at around 8 knots we’re making good progress.

Our biggest concern? That we might arrive too early. And strange as it may sound, that has become a real issue these days. Dropping anchor in a pretty bay isn’t as straightforward as it once was. Still, we have a few more days to go, so we’ll think of something.

For now, we’re simply enjoying the beautiful sailing weather.
