Maintenance

The Oosterschelde is moored in Rotterdam and work is in full swing on board. The masts and bowsprit were hoisted onto the quay for maintenance, but are now back in place. The sails that were sent to the sailmaker for maintenance have also returned and are being reattached. There is chipping, sanding and painting going on, and under the floors, two plumbers are busy installing a system of cold water pipes for air conditioning in the sleeping cabins. Whether all this will be finished on time remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the ship will be ready to sail in time for its departure to Cape Verde in early November.
