Goodbye Ancon

The bay of Ancon, Peru has been our home for about a week now. We have been warmly welcomed by the local Yacht Club and every single little motorboat from the area must have come by our anchorage to see the Oosterschelde from up close. By the morning of April 1st it was time to leave Ancon and start our voyage to Ecuador

After all the formalities were completed, we departed for the next sailing adventure. With topsails, fore course, and main sail up, we slowly made our way out of the bay. Too bad that the breeze was not a bit stronger… After a peaceful first day of sailing, we used the engine to make some progress overnight.

The next morning came with a nice surprise: WIND! So very quickly the sails were set and we were sailing with good speed northwards along the coastline of Peru. After 1,5 days at sea, we can already report sightings of dolphins, birds and rays.
