Spanish rias

Spanish rias

Since our departure from Lisbon, we have had headwinds. That’s a shame, but luckily, it’s not that much wind. The first night we motor sailed quite a bit west to sail back to the coast the next day. Then, while enjoying the view on the Portuguese coast, we travelled up north.

In the northwest of Spain, in Galicia, you have an area of rias. These are estuaries (about 5 miles wide, and 5 to 20 miles long) where you have room to sail, and they are dotted with bays and islands where you can roam around. So that’s the plan now, scurrying around there, until the wind turns to the south this weekend and we can sail nicely to the north and hopefully a good bit to the east, towards Pasajes. Greetings from all of us.
