After our day shelter at the Moroccan coast, we sailed to Gibraltar without any problems. Although the waves were still 4 to 6 meters high, the wind was now coming from the south and that worked – for a change – for us! During our passage through the Strait of Gibraltar, an orange-brown crested bird flew in, and came to rest with us in the rigging. After some searching, it turned out to be a hop.

Once we arrived at Gibraltar, the harbor was closed due to the high swell… We anchored. to wait until we could go inside for bunkering. In the evening, we were told that this would be somewhere between 02:00 and 04:00. Finally, it was half past eight in the morning that we were allowed in.

After the diesel tanks were filled again, we immediately left the port. The jib and topsails were already in place before we left the harbor! The mainsail and the outer jib followed soon after! Sailing over the now flat sea with a knot or seven, that is immediately enjoyable.

Last night, the wind dropped a bit and we turned on the engine to keep up the momentum. Today the wind is coming from the right direction, but unfortunately the wind is a bit weak to give us sufficient sailing speed. Tonight we will go motor sailing again, but tomorrow, the forecast is good! Beautiful sailings days ahead to Ibiza and Mallorca! Looking forward to it!
