Azores-south

Since we had to get one of the guests back to shore for medical care as soon as possible, we turned around a few days ago. But to sail back to the starting point of the journey, is not so nice. So we renamed the group of islands we were going the Azores-south. That sounds a lot better, and we at least have the idea that we were getting somewhere.

Because motor sailing as fast as possible it is not the most ‘hands-on’ activity, we have given a whole list of abbreviations to the guests (and crew) to see how much they know. And we made a quiz with different groups. That caused a lot of commotion with people who cheated, tried to cheat, or otherwise did not follow the rules. The only problem: there were no rules… In short, we had a lot of fun!

Early this morning we arrived at the ‘Azores-south’, at the town of Mindelo, where medical help was ready to take over our patient. Immediately afterwards we went to arrange custom clearance in and out and the cook went to the supermarket. The formalities were quickly completed and afterwards the guests started looking for the Wi-Fi at the ‘floating bar’ at the marina.

When the stores and all the guests were back on board, we hoisted the anchor again and meanwhile we motor-cruise between the islands, towards open water. Let’s hope the weather gods are kind to us in the coming time..
