Jan’s birthday

After a great day and night of sailing we drop anchor in the bay of Tarrafal, Santiago at 06:30. We had fair winds, sun and a full moon. Today it’s a special day because it is captain Jan’s birthday! But first we go on a daytrip: a hike in the national park, visit the colourful town of Asomada with its markets, see a very big and old tree in a beautiful green valley and then for a swim at silver beach (the sand is actually black).

Back on the boat we enjoy a very tasty and festive dinner. The saloon is decorated with partyflags and baloons. There is a loud Happy birthday singing, some silly and nice presents and a beautiful mocha birthday cake.

Today we had a special guest on board who came swimming to the ship… An old aquaintance: Cees, singer of the virtuose matrozen. So there is a special concert of sailor songs for Jan. Afterwards the party continues on deck with lots of dancing. Great Fun.
