Headwind

2 September 2019

After Rørvik we sailed through the night as fast as possible to get close to Ålesund. Under the Smola, a little wind arrived so we hoist the sails immediately. Great to be sailing for a little while! Unfortunately, it was only for a short period as the wind fell down nearby the small island of Grip. This was a good opportunity to explore this small abandoned island.

After our visit to Grip, we sailed towards Ålesund. According to the weather forecast there would be a ‘window’ to check the Gannets colony at Runde. So, against the wind we went on the motor to watch the birds. We expected to sail back, however, at the same time as we turned the wind turned! Again, we could not sail. In the afternoon we arrived in Ålesund. Some of us went hiking, others went to the pub.

Early in the morning we left Ålesund behind and sailed in the Sorfjord in the direction of Geiranger. This is one of the most beautiful fjords of Norway. The OOSTERSCHELDE has been here several times, but it is a fantastic scenery with the steep, green cliffs filled with waterfalls. Again, the wind wasn’t in our favor. And when we left again in the evening? Headwind again.
