Arctic Circle

29 August 2019

For the trip from Bodø to Bergen we were hoping for a bit of favourable wind. But this is not working out and as it looks now will not be the case for the coming days. The wind will be coming from the southwest or south. And there is a low-pressure area on its way that will cause lots of wind. Therefore, we are making some miles now, so when the low-pressure area arrives, we will well on our way, and we can hide in a fjord. For now, we are cruising between all the islands and rocks looking for beautiful views and lovely towns etc. This is not very difficult in this area.

Yesterday we visited the Svartisen glacier and anchored in the bay next to Rødøya. Today we sailed to Vikingen to ask Poseidon for permission to leave the arctic again at the Arctic Circle Monument.

For tomorrow Rørvik is on the program. Then we will go to Ålesund, where we will probably visit the Geirangerfjord. Meanwhile we keep a close eye on the low-pressure area, so we won’t be surprised by it and we are in sheltered waters.
