Internet detox

14 April 2019

Now, we are a week out on the ocean in a vast emptiness. A week offline and off grid. No television with breaking news which gets repeated every hour. No emails that should be answered within an hour. No messaging that should be answered within minutes. No Facebook that should be checked again and again. No smartphone zombies around. We are oblivious to what happens in the world.

Our news is about dolphins, a passing ship, a rainbow. We live by the rhythm of the watches, the waves, the sun and moon and the meals. We are reading books, having good conversations, having fun. Seniors share and cherish their boyhood stories. We make silly walks on a dancing ship.

Yesterday we passed the center of the Azores High and are on sail again with westerly winds. We will approach the Azores within a few days. A few days to rest without internet.
