Sometimes a blog is not that handy…

10 August 2018

Yesterday our new guests came on board and during our welcome speech I always ask what everyone would like to see and why they choose this voyage. For our trips here in Scotland it is mostly nature and everything that comes with that like dolphins, whales, seals and maybe a Basking shark. For birds the puffins, fish eagles and large numbers of gannets. And we often hear mentioned the history, the castles, the whisky and of course St Kilda.
But yesterday there was someone who read our blog and read that we went to Coryvreckan and would love to go there. We did not expect that, and it was not in our plan yet.
So, we adjusted the plan and left last night to go the ‘Great Race’. We did warn everyone that it would be dark when we would arrive so that there was a big chance we would not see a lot. And that was the case. We did not see much, but we could hear the water run. With the engine in neutral we let the current float us along. On the electronic map you could clearly see how were where floating around. Because we did not see a lot of the rough water, it was not that spectacular, but it was interesting to see how the current is floating in circles.
When we were done playing around we set course for Tobermory to visit this picturesque town with its lovely surroundings. After lunch we will set sail and go to Muck to go for a walk and with a bit of luck we will spot a Basking shark along the way, so we can cross that one off the list already…
