On our way to Sunderland

10 July 2018

It has been a while since we had our trip to London. It was a great trip with amazing weather. Due to the easterly wind we sailed almost all the way to Tilbury, while enjoying the sunshine and the gorgeous starry nights. In the meanwhile, we have left London and last Sunday we saw the beautifully lit Tower Bridge for the last time while we sailed down the Thames towards Sunderland. Unfortunately, the nice weather has disappeared and the wind has shifted North. We have to use the engine now, so we can sail later.
Despite the headwind the atmosphere on board is really good! Everyone is enjoying the voyage on his or her own way. One is sitting on deck, watching all the other ships pass by, observing the windfarms or staring at the horizon, others are climbing the rigging and are enjoying the view from up high. Some are chatting, others are reading a book. In the meantime, we tell tales about the ship, we explain how to sail, explain the weather and how to navigate.
In summary, despite the headwind it is a very enjoyable trip.
