L'Aber Wrac'h

8 June 2018

After a week at sea most of us don’t mind stretching the legs. And as we just have entered the English Channel we can. There are lots of spots to choose from. This morning during breakfast we sailed up to l’Aber Wrac’h, a small French town northeast from Ouessant. There was no room at the floating dock, but the big mooring was still free. A good opportunity for Jan to practice to moor at a mooring. A friendly harbour master put someone on the mooring to help us. We put the dinghy overboard and everyone could go ashore for a walk and a few with a mission.
The most important mission was Erwin’s. He needed to find the ingredients to make his famous sausages he keeps talking about. Because Erwin speaks German and English but not French and his South African friend Quentin neither, Elise from Canada joined as a translator. In the afternoon they returned with a very friendly Morocco born lady. She has been living in France for many years and helped out finding everything and specially to explain to the French butcher what was needed.
When everyone was on board we set sail again. Tomorrow Erwin and Fennardie will be busy in the galley and we can expect sausage on the menu. I can’t wait. But I am sure this is the first sausage I will be eating that has been prepared by so many nationalities. And if the sausages are even half as tasty as Erwin says…
