So far so good

3 June 2018

As expected, once we passed the cold front we had to sail close to the wind. This was the case, and for quite some time we sailed 25 to 30 knots. Our course was still north. In the meanwhile, the wind is declining and veering, so we have to steer more eastwards. The weather forecasts predict that tonight and tomorrow the wind declines and slowly turns all the way north. Then, we need to figure out our course again.
The waves are high due to the hard wind. This does not make the life on board any easier, but it is part of the ocean-sailing experience. An important rule on deck is: always keep one hand for yourself. When you are clumsily walking on deck, it is very nice to see a petrel. Petrels seem a bit cumbersome, but they are completely in their element, in the wind and the ocean swell. The bird probably wonders what we are doing here. Although we have a good time on board, people are clearly not made for this.
