Rain

16 February 2018

That the weather is different this winter was clear from the start. The last month we had (much) more wind than usual in this area. So, we were quite happy when the forecast said that the wind would decrease. But this did not mean we could expect ‘normal’ weather! The wind decreased, strongly. And we got rain in return! We had not seen that one coming!
We had a few drops once in a while, which they call rain here, but now we are talking about real rain. Big fat drops in huge amounts for a longer period of time. Because there is a lot of Sahara dust in the air this also comes down. So, for the ones that washed the deck down and enjoyed the shiny ship it is a disappointment to see all their work done for nothing. Luckily it seems we will have the last showers tonight and we have more stable weather after that. So, we hope to have some ‘normal’ weather during the last trip of our season here. After that it may storm, rain and even snow for ten months, but after that upon our return we hope for a more normal season, so we can enjoy this beautiful archipelago to the fullest.
