Windy

The wind keeps on going. We were also surprised by strong gusts of wind at the anchor place of São Nicolau, usually the quietest spot in Cape Verde. Once we even blown off our anchor. Of course, we always keep anchor watch, but that was different on a catamaran next to us. There too the anchor lost hold and the boat quickly drifted towards deep water. The crew was still asleep, so we went over there with the dinghy to wake them up. Otherwise might have woken up up somewhere far out on the ocean.
Meanwhile, we are on our way to Boa Vista. The sun is shining and the white foam heads on the high waves are nice to see. Because of those waves we are not able to win enough height under sail, so we have use the engine. Everyone is on deck and fortunately there is plenty to see. Dolphins, for example, but we also met a pod of pilot whales. And a special lonesome seabird came along: a red-billed tropic bird.
