Second start

3 August 2017

We are on our way back home, Europe that is. Via Le Havre we will sail back to Rotterdam where we will be celebrating our anniversary. But we are not quite there yet..
After a beautiful Parade of Sail through the harbour of Halifax and disembarkation of the pilot we trimmed the sails and set the gaff top sails and set sail for the start of the trans-Atlantic race. With a southern wind of about 16 knots and a speed of 8 knots we trained a few tacks before we went over the start and sailed into the night.
Unfortunately, the wind decreased overnight, and in the morning we received the message we were already expecting: the race was ceased and a new start was set. About 300 NM east of where we were. We are now on our way there motoring, and hopefully the wind will be back when we arrive there. We are keeping a close eye on the forecast.
