Tadoussac

17 July 2017

We closed the ship for the public a bit earlier than we would normally do, because we had a reception on board. About 40 sponsors of the event came on board the ‘Oosterschelde’ and our neighbor ‘Europa’ to get to know the ships and crew. It was a nice evening and although the event was planned to 9PM, most of them were still on deck at 10 to enjoy the fireworks.
This morning we departed from Saguenay (movie). Because the quay was full of people waving us goodbye, we set all sails for a nice performance. There was no wind so it was just for show and we needed help of the engine.
We spend the day in the Saguenay fjord. We took our time sailing downstream with a detour via Eternity Bay and Baie de Saint Jean. Meanwhile we spotted beluga’s who gently passed by the ship in the cold water. We are now at anchor at Tadoussac, just before the exit to the Saint Lawrence river. We are waiting on the tide to change to give us a push towards Quebec, as this will be at sunrise we hope for whales. Who knows..
