Today an update by sailor Jurriaan:
”Yesterday afternoon we arrived in a sheltered bay just outside of Miramichi. We needed the shelter as the heavy wind that was forecasted changed a lovely sailing day under full sail to a reefed schooner sail, mizzen, main sail and jib. So it was a busy watch for me and the trainees. Which was really fun was that my dad is on board and now I could show him what the life of a sailor entails. And I could teach him something instead of him teaching me something.
This morning, while we were waiting for the pilot, I took him all the way up the mast: a great experience to do this together and what a view!
We are all ready for the Sail In, we cleaned the deck and the brass is shining again. Hopefully the wind stays like this so we can sail up the river under full sail and we can ask photographer Valery to jump in the dinghy to make some nice photos for our website.”
