Cuba

25 April 2017

North of Cuba the sea can be deceiving. At first sight there is not much to worry about: water everywhere you look. But if you look at the charts you see sand banks, rocks and coral everywhere. You can only sail through the Old Bahama Channel, a natural channel between the Great Bahama Bank and Cuba. With the wind in our back this has been a comfortable trip. During the day, mostly sunny and very hot. At night heavy rains and thunderstorms, which made sailing enervating. But without any problems we made it through this area and we are near Havana. The Florida current is slowing us down. And the wind has veered to the west. The last few miles we go on engine. Everyone is excited to arrive at our final destination later today.
