Jost van Dyke

Jost van Dyke

16 April 2017

Virgin Gorda is well known for the ‘baths’, a bay with huge bluestone rocks and caves, white sand and small salty lakes. Beautiful and impressive and that’s what the tour operators of the big cruise ships think too. So, when a big ship with 2000 passengers arrive there are traffic controllers on the island to arrange the pedestrians. Not quite what you imagine if you think of an island in this area.
So, we left very early this morning to visit one of the other islands. The island Jost van Dyke is called after a Dutch pirate. We spend the whole day swimming and snorkelling in an area that would fit in any travel magazine. Snow-white beaches with palm trees, rocky coast with coral and turquoise water. At the end of the day we anchored at Grand Harbour, for a final Wi-Fi-hotspot or cocktail. Just before dark we departed. Meanwhile we are north of Puerto Rico sailing broad reached.
