While most guests were doing the tour on Dominica we sailed the ship to Portsmouth, on the north side of the island. Underway we were accompanied by a big group of dolphins. In Portsmouth, the group that was still on board from the last trip did a tour up the Indian River. In a boat through he mangroves and jungle. They saw many birds and other animals and came back very enthusiastic. Because there was little wind expected we left after dinner. With a small rigging, we sailed north. Because of the clouds, we could not see the stars, but we did want to organise some entertainment, so we decided to get the beamer out on deck and project an historic movie on the mainsail: a big success!
Behind Guadeloupe the wind completely disappeared, so we switched on the engine until we reached Deshaies, a bay on the northwest side. We took time here for breakfast, a dip, a swing from the forecourse halyard and a bit of snorkelling. When everyone was back on deck we hoisted the anchor and sails and departed. Now we are sailing to the east side of Montserrat, our next destination. Tomorrow the guests will go on a tour on this island, that was badly damaged after the volcano erupted in 1995.
