Still going fast

13 March 2017

Every now and then it seems like the wind is decreasing, but then it increases again and we pick up speed. Every four hours we calculate the distance we travelled and our average is between 30 to 35 miles. That’s pretty high.
But we have to, because an area with little wind is catching up with us from the east. The faster we go, the bigger the chance we keep going fast.
Of course, we are not only concentrating on our speed. We stare at the waves, the first red-billed tropicbird has been spotted, just like dolphins and flying fish, the clouds, the stars and the full moon.
Today we organized ‘dungeon’-tours to show the guest crew all the areas where normally they never go. Where do we store the soft drinks, where do we keep the vegetables cool. And we show the engine room. Is there really a whole store full of cleaning products, dish wash brushes and garbage bags? All these questions have been answered to give the guests a better idea of what it means to cross the ocean with 30 people.
