Wind

11 January 2017

The last few days we told our guest that they were very lucky with the quiet and easy weather. Of course, we as crew were lucky too..
But that’s over. We are at anchor at São Nicolauand the gusts of wind rolling down the mountains are reaching gale force. The ‘Oosterschelde’ is swaying at anchor and we had to hoist the anchor twice because it moved to deeper waters. The ship is heeling 20 degrees because of the wind blowing against the masts. Tomorrow we have to leave again. There will be less gusts out at sea. The forecast predicts northeast six and from the wrong direction so we reefed the sails. First we hope to get a good night’s rest.
