Waiting for good wind

10 September 2016

As expected we arrived at the locks during breakfast. We could enter right away so we started the 100 km from Holtenau to Brunsbüttel. The weather was beautiful and everyone was on deck checking out the ships and bridges we passed.
After two days on engine we got a bit tired of it, so we decided to make a stop at Rendsburg. We stretched our legs and had some ice-cream. During dinner we were on the other side and went through the locks. With the current with us we sailed down the Elbe onto the German Bight.
This morning we set some sails and tacked a bit, of course we knew that this was not the fastest way but we just wanted to do some sailing instead of the engine on the whole time. But to get to London we are forced to switch it on again to motor sail in the right direction. The forecast shows that the wind should shift to the south so we could sail and as it looks now the wind is shifting so we are looking forward to a night of sailing. Now let’s see for how long..
