After a few busy days in Gothenburg, where we received the prize for 3rd place in the race, we welcomed new guests on board for the voyage to London. At the end of the morning everyone was on board so we could start with the introduction and safety briefing. And then it was time for the Sail Out, with all ships in a row down the river. It was a pity that we had headwinds and we could not show off with all our sails up. We only set the mainsail and a jib, straight in the middle. After we passed the Swedish navy we could set our own course. To get to London there are two options via the outside or inside. Because the wind is coming from the south we choose for the route inside to avoid the headwinds but more importantly the high waves. Today we sailed through the Storebælt down and just after dinner, at dusk, we sailed through the bridge at the Østerrenden-part which connects Fyn with Sjælland. A really big and impressive bridge. Somewhere tomorrow morning we expect to arrive at Kiel (Holtenau), to enter the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal to the German Bight. And from there on we hope to be able to sail along the German and Dutch Frisian Islands.
