Repairs

26 March 2016

After two days beating agains the wind we saw that something came loose from the mast. But to lift someone up the mast with three meter high waves is not a good idea so we had to search for a sheltered spot. But where can we find that in the middle of the Caribbean Sea?
After a bit of searching on the charts we found a small island close to our route, but with a big reef next to it. There even was a anchor spot shown on the chart, the choice was easy! So we adjusted our course to Cayo Serranilla. When we arrived we saw a small island, it was more a sandbank filled with palm trees and a lighthouse. We dropped anchor and we lifted Jan up the mast to do the repairs. It was done quickly and we decided to stay for a bit to have an easy dinner. Our course is more broad reach so we set the sails and switched the engine off. We are doing 8,5 to 9 knots! It’s not bad at all sailing here!
