Market on deck

19 March 2016

Captain Gerben reports:
“Of course the inhabitants of the islands saw us arrive and not long after canoes came alongside. Women and children who wanted to sell their molas and bracelets. We had a small market on deck. In one of the tree trunk canoes Nestor also visited. Martin Duba, captain of the ‘Regina Maris’ already gave me his name. The ‘Regina Maris’ comes here often with their School At Sea projects. Nestor was wearing his Regina t-shirt with pride. When the market ended we brought Nestor and the guests ashore for a tour. He leaves his canoe behind for us to try out. Because it is a bit asymmetric it is actually quite easy.”
