10 March 2016

Maarten, Anna and Lisa have signed off. Gerben, Magnus and Tim have signed on. While we are at anchor for a few days we have time to do some maintenance. A time-consuming job is to sew a long wear in the main sail. We change the oil of the generators, replace a halyard and two blocks, clean a pump and many other small chores.
We are also preparing for the leg to Cartagena. The wind is increasing today but also the coming days. We have cloudy skies and rain, a big change compared to all the sunny days we had. The coast north of Cartagena is known for stronger winds compared to the rest of the region. 30 to 35 knots is now predicted and maybe even 40 knots. That is strong, wind force 7 or even 8 Bft. We have a small crew, but it should not be a problem because we have the wind in our back. After breakfast we are going to arrange customs clearance and start sea fastening so we can depart in time to be in Cartagena. We think it will take us about 3,5 days to get there.
