Union Island

1 March 2016

The bbq on the beach at Tobago Cays was great! Tasty langoustine, fish, salads etc. Everyone came back on board happy. After a quiet night we lifted the anchor and sailed a bit more to the south to Union Island. Here we could arrange our customs ‘check-out’. While Jan was on shore to arrange everything we kept the ship going and we did an emergency exercise. The general alarm went off and everyone came on deck with his or her life vests on, because we had two crewmembers less (first mate and one sailor) it was pretty busy because these tasks needed to be done by the others.
It didn’t take long before they where back on board so we could lift the dinghy on deck and set the sails. We have the wind in our back towards Bonaire so we set the mainsail with the gaff-topsail and all the square sails. We are going slower than we want, but we expect more wind in the coming days.
