At anchor in the Kieler Forde

The wind kept on going and turned more to the Northwest so with the wind in our backs we entered Helgoland. After lunch everyone went ashore to see the island, to make a walk on top of the steep cliffs. Even though there is not much to do, it’s a beautiful island.
At 10PM we left so we would reach the Elbe at high tide. The wind increased up to 6 Bft but still from the NW and we passed the lightship Elbe around midnight with a very choppy sea. Luckily this was over after an hour so everyone could get a goodnight sleep while we sailed on with a speed of 9 knots. At 5 in the morning we went through the locks at Brunsbüttel and entered the Kieler Canal. For the first time this trip we had to start the engine. Luckily it worked perfectly and with a speed of 7,5 knots we reached the locks at Holtenau in 8 hours time (at lunchtime). After lunch we sailed for a few hours in the Kieler Forde. Now we dropped anchor at Schilksee for a quiet night.
