Birthday

Update Mar 3 2015, by Jan ten Dam:
“Today is in two ways somewhat different from the days before.
In the first place one of the guests, Sieb, is celebrating his birthday. This morning a chair was specially reserved for him so he could eat by candlelight. Of course the saloon has been decorated for this occasion. At dinnertime we will all celebrate his birthday and we will sing for him. The cook has promised she will bake a birthday cake with his present age on it.
Furthermore, this morning the weather is very sunny. The temperature rises up to 23 degrees. Although we sail up north, the weather and temperature are still very comfortable. We will enjoy it as long as it lasts. This weather invites a lot of the guests to stay on deck. Some of them, like Sieb, are busy with some maintenance. Others talk, stare over the ocean or just enjoy the weather. Everybody is in a good mood.
The fact that we have to use our motor to make progress because of a lack of wind, instead of really sailing, doesn’t change this. It’s an almost perfect day.
So, we are all well, in a good mood and making progress in the right direction.”
