Cabo Verde, no stress

Cabo Verde, no stress

Cabo Verde, no stress

17 February 2015

Cabo Verde, no stress! That’s what is printed on the t-shirts in the shops. That’s also exactly what you think if you need to go for groceries, pay the harbour dues or sit down on a terrace.
The last couple of days there were some small clouds, but with good wind from the right direction we could sail beautifully. When we left Mindelo, there was a strong wind caused by the Venturi effect between the islands Santo Antão and São Vicente. Reefed and as good as we could, we tacked through the small strait to sail to São Nicolau. The wind was a normal NE 4 Bft.
Everywhere we drop anchor this week, the exhilarating music from carnival comes towards us. All day, every day. Young and old come together in the street to dance at the parade. Great to see how all Cape Verdeans swing along with the drum band.
Today, the 17th of February, we are anchored at Boa Vista. The island with the moving dunes, stretched beaches and a small islet at its coast with the ruins of a fort from times passed. Strolling, snorkeling and a campfire. Everything easy. Cabo Verde, no stress.
