We have arrived!

We have arrived!

We have arrived!

1 December 2014

The wind kept decreasing and in the end, the wind even was west-south-west. The weather forecast kept saying that the wind would veer to the north, so we did not mind that we were somewhat east of our course line. And indeed, after some rain, yes rain, the wind turned north. Unfortunately that lasted for two minutes and then the wind stopped completely. We sailed the last part on the engine and in the afternoon we arrived in Palmeira on the island Sal. After the visa’s were arranged, we lit the barbecue for a nice last evening.
The last days we got to see some nature: for a long period we were followed by a group of Clymene dolphins (short-snouted spinner dolphins) and we saw some flying fish, indeed flying. The next morning we found one on deck, so we could take a good look at it.
The weather is not like it is supposed to be. The winds from the last couple of days are the opposite of what we could expect. Normally the Cape Verdian islands have about 200 mm of rain in a whole year, but we have had more than that when we arrived!
Let’s hope we do not get any more rain!
