Well done, Jessica!

Well done, Jessica!

Well done, Jessica!

31 August 2014

After a morning of nice sailing, the wind died out again. But, luckily, the sun kept warming us all day long. Thanks to the sun it became even more clear that Norway is a beautiful country. We took great pleasure in the view of the mountains, they seemed to shine in the sun. In the evening we went looking for a nice bay to drop anchor. The first one looked kind of small on the chart, but we wanted to take a look anyway. In real life it was even smaller then on the chart, so we were not going in there. So we looked for another bay in the right direction, still enjoying the evening sun. We found this in Søren Vågen. A beautiful, almost perfectly round bay with a narrow entrance. So we were surrounded by mountains in our own little world. Here we spent a few hours at anchor before we went on our way to Bergen.
In the morning it was clear that sailing was not going to happen today, for there was no wind at all. So calmly we went on to Bergen by engine. There we made it a nice last night and said our goodbyes to Frianko, who’s going back to school.
In between the main course and the tiramisu, Jessica probably saved the life of an unknown woman! She saw something floating in the hrbour and when she went for a better look she saw it was a woman. So Jessica raised the alarm and with combined strength of the ‘Oosterschelde’ and a German navy vessel next to us, we lifted the woman out of the water and onto the navy vessel. She was hypothermic, but conscious. After a short examination by the German doctor the ambulance arrived and took her to the hospital for further examination. Well done Jessica!!
