Preparing for the storm

7 July 2014

Update by Marloes:
“The day started out great, the sun is shining and it’s not very cold. The only problem is that the wind is barely there. At 12 o’ clock we have a calm start of the race. When the race began, we calmly sailed past the Marine vessel ‘Friesland’, where the marines waved  at the ships. Our watch started at 13:30 hours. We only had to make one gybe during our watch and we were sailing perfectly on course. All the other ships have a different strategie than our captain has in mind. Because the winds were calm, the ship can be prepared for the next day. They were expecting wind force 7, that means we had to secure everything for a storm. After the watch we enjoyed the delicious meal the chef made for us and when the next watch took over, we tried to get a little sleep.”
