Still in the dock

9 May 2014

The ship is still in the dry dock. The work is progressing step by step and if we don’t encounter any big problems the ship will be back in the water on Monday or Tuesday. The ship has been painted on the outside from top to bottom. The forepeak where we store our paint and anchor chains has been cleaned, sandblasted and painted. Pipes have been replaced and renewed; the bowsprit is sanded, painted just like the yards. The ironwork is sandblasted, galvanised and painted. Most of our work will not been visible anymore, days of breaking through old strong concrete just to get to the place you want to get to is a necessary evil or we don’t want to think about all the stuff that we have moved from one place to another to be able to work. But is good to clean up, we gathered a lot of stuff during the circumnavigation and our guests will be happy with an empty and cleaned ship. All the bed covers, bedding, mattresses and pillows are being replaced or dry cleaned. As we get tired the ship gets prettier. If the weather is good next week we can paint and varnish more before we have to sail again.
