Bass Strait

16 September 2013

Slowly but surely the wind has increased and yesterday afternoon we had to take away some sails. First the topgallant sail and shortly after that we had to reef the mizzen. Then we took away the outer jib, etcetera. It kept us busy during the night. Just now we reefed the sails for the second time and the wind has increased to 30 knots, so we are well prepared. We crossed Bass Strait and we are now sailing along the northwest coast of Tasmania. The wind is eastnortheast so we have some protection against the big waves when we reach further south. The sky is grey but every once in a while there is a ray of sunshine shining through the clouds that colour the sea blue and the tops of the waves white. It is great out here!
