Kangaroo Island

Update by Ed:
“We have already been on our way for three days, we visited Kangaroo Island and the ship is fully booked. This is part of the adventure, new people, new dynamic and everyone has their own stories and reasons for joining on this leg. Part of sailing on more than one leg, is also saying goodbye to people that you have come a costumed to. On the previous leg we were with 8 guests, now we are full with 24 guests. This means a shift in watch system and in space.
An adventure to live in a small community on board of a ship with only water around you. You have to find your own space but I also want to stay in contact with the other guests. Everyone has its own role and this has worked out good. In the beginning the conversations are about where you are from and why you decided to sail along. And the longer you talk to someone you learn more about one another. And I also notice that my English is a bit rusty.
Life on board is filled with rituals of course we are busy with setting and taking away sails, maintenance by the crew and sometimes with help from the guests. We set the table, cleaning away the dishes, making coffee and tea, laundry and Wouter is busy with cooking. And at night the toilets and shower areas are cleaned (this happens without me noticing but every morning everything is clean and fresh).
We also work in the watch system, with a big group there is a Swedish watch system. There is a rood, white and blue team. During the day starting at 8 there are two 6 hour watches and at night from 8PM three watches of 4 hours. This way everyone has two watches free time. It is very important for me that I sleep during these periods, but in the afternoon and at night it is so nice to talk to everyone. I might come back to you soon with an adventure during a watch!”
