Little progress, but great weather

3 June 2013

Over the last 48 hours we made little progress because of the strong eastern wind. At this moment we measure 28-34 knots, 7Bft. The sails are reefed and we turned on the engine to keep the ship on course. The great thing of the new weather forecast programme SPOS, is that it also shows the currents. Every tack we make on the maximum eastern current, so we still make progress. The forecast tells us that we can get more to the east tomorrow morning because then the wind will shift to the north and decrease a lot. Luckily we have excellent weather due to a high-pressure area. Waves are far more beautiful in the sun then in the rain! Our cook Fennardie manages to prepare great meals every time and no one is seasick. Twice a day we get in contact with the ‘Europa’ and ‘Tecla’ to keep each other up to date on the position and give each other pep talks about the forecasts. The ‘Europa’ can sail more clause-hauled due to the rigging and motor so they are speeding away for us, but we will catch up with them later on. Greetings from a restless but beautiful sea.
