Goodbye Tristan

19 April 2013

Yesterday we waited the whole day with two anchors and with our maximum anchor lengths. And that is about 300 meter! In spite of that we could not keep the ship in place and at sundown we had to lift the anchor. To give everyone a good night sleep we kept the ‘Oosterschelde’ along the lee side of the island so we can try to land again today. But also today there are big breaking waves in the small harbour where we have to land and it is to dangerous. The forecast is not better for tomorrow so there is no use for waiting again 24 hours. We set the sails again and we are now sailing on. It is a shame but we won’t be meeting any family of the Dutch family Groen that live on Tristan da Cunha.
