Firm wind

9 February 2013

The crossing from Santiago to São Vicente went quite prosperous, due to the firm wind. In the final hours where the wind increased, we lowered quite some sails and the sea was pretty heavy. When sailing under the island of São Vicente, we found some rest from the big waves, but the wind was still heavy. We needed al our engine power to motorsail against the wind to the bay of São Pedro to find some rest. We anchored and waited in the bay for the rest of the night. This morning we continued. It took almost a full day with sails and motor to tack  our way through to Mindelo. We arrived in Mindelo at 6:30 PM. Up to our visits to the islands São Vicente and Santo Antão!
