Winds and fishes

8 February 2013

The bay of Tarrafal, with idyllic beaches, palm trees and rocks is on the leeward side of the island Santiago. Tarrafal is enclosed with high rocky mountains. However there is a lot of wind, most of the time. There are fall winds that actually fall down the mountains into the bay and that are a bit cold (not compared to The Nederlands, because these winds are still about 20 degrees Celsius). We have placed an awning to be able to eat outside, without having to feel the wind too much. It is really dark, since there is a new moon. Still there is plenty of things to see around us. Flying fishes swim and jump against the ship, trumpet fishes pop through the water and every once in a while we see larger shadows going through the water, all drawn to the ship by our lights on deck.
