Step on board in Vannes, a small town in the Golfe du Morbihan, a shallow bay full of small islands near the French coast.

Voyage description

When you arrive, the Oosterschelde will be anchored at Port Blanc. The crew will take you on board with the dinghy. The coming days, we make a journey that will end at the mouth of the Loire, in St Nazaire. The distance between Vannes and St Nazaire is not great. So we have the entire duration of the voyage to discover the beautiful Breton coast. And that is worth it because not only are there beautiful historic harbors that we can visit, there are also many small and larger islands where we can anchor and while we are here we certainly also want to have the chance to do something taste the local cuisine. So it will be a voyage in which we will alternate sailing with the ship with visits to the most beautiful places in this area.

The captain makes a plan based on the multi-day forecast. The first night we may drop anchor at Belle le. Shall we then sail south via île de Noirmoutier, towards La Rochelle? Or should we first take a look in the north at Lorient, Île de Groix or Concarneau? We let the weather (and the captain) decide and enjoy our voyage of discovery.

Level 1

Level 1 trips are suitable for anyone in good health. We sail, for example, in sheltered waters or close to shore. In heavy weather, we can seek shelter in a port or opt for a more sheltered route.

The shipping company would like the OOSTERSCHELDE to be accessible to the widest possible audience, but you must realize that you are making a voyage aboard a seagoing tall ship. This requires more of your physical ability than a daily walk. Some voyages are more challenging than others. With the different levels, we give an indication of how heavy the voyage can be. If you are unsure whether a voyage is suitable for you, it is important to contact shipping company OOSTERSCHELDE for advice
