Voyage description

On the day of your arrival, the captain will tell you about the safety procedures and rules of life on board, about the planning of the trip and of course the weather forecast. We sail over the Nieuwe Maas and the Nieuwe Waterweg to the North Sea. Via the Pas de Calais we enter the English Channel. We make a stop at the Channel Island of Alderney or a Normandy port. Then we sail further west. Île d’Ouessant marks the end of the Channel. We are now sailing into the Bay of Biscay. The water depth here increases rapidly to as much as 5000 meters.

We sail south along the Breton coast. Before entering the Gulf of Morbihan we hope to anchor at Belle Île. The name (Beautiful Island) says it all; here we go ashore for a walk, a visit to the citadel or to visit one of the cafes or restaurants. Once in the Golfe du Morbihan we have to deal with current speeds of up to 9 knots. An exciting last leg of a beautiful journey. We anchor at Port Blanc near Vannes. You will disembark on May 14 after breakfast.

Level 1

Level 1 trips are suitable for anyone in good health. We sail, for example, in sheltered waters or close to shore. In heavy weather, we can seek shelter in a port or opt for a more sheltered route.

The shipping company would like the OOSTERSCHELDE to be accessible to the widest possible audience, but you must realize that you are making a voyage aboard a seagoing tall ship. This requires more of your physical ability than a daily walk. Some voyages are more challenging than others. With the different levels, we give an indication of how heavy the voyage can be. If you are unsure whether a voyage is suitable for you, it is important to contact shipping company OOSTERSCHELDE for advice
